Toumani Diabaté's Symmetric Orchestra - Summer Sounds in The Domain
with Vieux Farka Touré
'A jubilant polyrhythmic party of percussion, electric guitars, and Diabaté’s 21-stringed instrument showering notes like a musical waterfall.’ - The Village Voice
Toumani Diabaté’s Symmetric Orchestra is an institution in Mali. Composed of musicians who fuse tradition and innovation, they play a mix of West African instruments including the kora, djembe, balafon and bolombatto alongside guitars and drums.
Diabaté will be joined by Vieux Farka Touré, the son of Malian guitar legend Ali Farka Touré.
Farka Touré represents the new generation of West African musicians, making music that is sophisticated, urban and globally connected, while deeply proud of its ancient heritage. Together with his band, he fuses pulsing Saharan rhythms with rock, blues and reggae. Gather to celebrate Africa’s musical riches with two of Mali’s most gifted musicians.
